Woodland Shores Community Guidelines
There is a great deal of volunteer work and community expense that goes into the maintenance and improvement of Woodland Shores’ community resources. Our roads, docks, boat ramp, parks, playground, and community center are open to all property owners, good neighbors,* and their guests with the understanding that those who use the facilities agree to treat them with care and respect. In the spirit of pride and appreciation, please keep the following community guidelines in mind. There really isn’t much to remember beyond Kindergarten rules; be responsible, share with each other, and clean up after yourself. This page is based on the “Basic Rules Everyone Should Know” paper which is included in the Woodland Shores new resident welcome pack. A downloadable copy can be found here.

Vehicles
All automobiles, golf carts, ATVs, motorcycles, etc. must display a current Woodland Shores window sticker (or guest pass), particularly in Woodland Shores’ common areas which include boat ramp, docks, parks, community center, and parking lots. Without this identification a vehicle will be assumed to be transporting an unauthorized party in attempt to gain unapproved access to Woodland Shores’ facilities. People in vehicles without stickers/passes will be asked to leave, and unattended vehicles without stickers/passes may be towed at owner’s expense.
Two vehicle stickers are are included upon payment of yearly dues, and extra stickers can be purchased for $1.00 each additional. Guest passes are available for $1.00 each and easily obtained at monthly board meetings, or by special arrangement through the WSPOA Treasurer. Members of Woodland Shores’ adjacent communities may receive stickers/passes upon receipt of “good neighbor” donations.
The Speed Limit in Woodland Shores is 20 MPH, with the exception of the areas around the cove and through the park where your vehicle speed should be even less. The speed limit applies to all vehicle types. Safety is of primary importance.

Community Docks
The Swim Dock (the northernmost dock) is for swimming only. There is no life guard. Swim at your own risk. The buddy system is recommended when in the water. Keep a watchful eye on children. No fishing from the swim dock, for obvious reasons. Nobody wants to be stuck by a wayward hook. Boats are not allowed in swim area because they present a safety hazard for swimmers. No boat parking, loading, or unloading allowed.
The Courtesy Dock (middle dock) is intended for very short-term parking only, to give opportunity to park/retrieve your truck when unloading or loading your boat. Please limit time parked at Courtesy Dock to fifteen minutes or less so that more people have the opportunity to use it. In the event a boat needs to be parked for a longer period of time (though still temporarily) please tie up to the outside of the dock, leaving the slips open for loading/unloading. For example, if a guest from across the lake comes to visit a Woodland Shores community member, they should tie to the outside for the few hours they are visiting. The Courtesy Dock is never for all-day or all-night parking. If the boat will not be used for an extended period of time, it should be removed or parked along the beach. This dock has been provided for the convenience of Woodland Shores owners and guests. Please do the courtesy of sharing it as intended.
The Multi-Purpose Dock (southernmost) may be used for fishing or temporary boat loading/unloading when the Courtesy Dock is full. Boaters should allow fishermen time to move or bring in their lines. The multi-purpose dock is never to be used for long-term parking.

Community Park
The park is closed between Midnight and 6:00 am. Picnic tables, benches, a playground, and a basketball court offer plenty of space for relaxation and recreation. There is no maintenance staff. Please be responsible for picking up after yourselves. Save your cans! Aluminum cans are collected throughout the year and recycled. Money made from recycling is an important part of funding for road repairs. Wire collection receptacles have been placed in the park and on roadsides for your convenience.

Keep Control of Your Pets.
For the safety of our community — property owners, pets, and guest alike — it is preferred that pets be penned, or leashed. Pets that bite, pets that are overly aggressive, and pets that become a community nuisance will be discussed with the pet’s owner. If the owner is unknown (or if the bad behavior continues and warnings are ignored) then the animals will be dealt with accordingly. Please be responsible for the actions and behavior of your pets.

Don’t Harass Wildlife.
In this rural area, we share our community with wildlife. Deer, armadillo, possum, and groundhogs are frequently seen around The Shores. You might even catch a glimpse of fox, coyotes, and an occasional black bear. When you do, it is best to keep your distance and leave the wildlife alone, for their sake and yours.
* Good neighbors are property owners from neighboring communities (such as Reeds Port, Two Tree Island Estates, and Amber Waves) who offer annual donations toward the maintenance and improvement of Woodland Shores roads and park amenities.
