Doing what we can, when we can.
I really do enjoy the Woodland Shores community cove. It’s obvious that the WSPOA BoD and many, many community volunteers have worked hard to make a beautiful, comfortable, convenient space for Shores property owners and their guests to enjoy. I like to go out to the water and walk along the rocky shore. There is just so much to see while strolling. Birds, clouds, waves, boats, rocks, driftwood, and… trash. That last part isn’t my favorite. So, I make a habit of carrying a basket, or a grocery bag with me when I go down to the cove.

As I’m walking along the shore and relaxing to the sounds of the wind and the water, the songs of the birds, and the reassuring hum of neighborhood ATVs I find it satisfying to fill my bag (or my basket) with the bits and pieces of trash that wash up onto our shore. It may sound corny, but it’s true; knowing that I’m leaving the place a bit cleaner for the next person who comes down to relax and unwind really does make my heart smile.
I see neighbors all over The Shores doing what they can, when they can, every day. Picking up trash on their daily walks, stopping to offer to split wood, offering use of their equipment, even sharing tree logs. Helping repair golf carts, sharing homecooked meals. Neighbors helping neighbors. It’s a beautiful way to live.
Do you, or someone you know, make a habit of doing what you can, when you can for our community? We’d like to hear about it. If you want to recognize someone for the good work they do for our community, tell us all about them in the comments below. Call attention to these volunteers for a job well done!
